Celebrating a Century of Kindness

The Volunteer Services team recently had the honor of celebrating an extraordinary milestone—Olivia Contos’ 100th birthday, alongside an incredible 30 years of dedicated service to Mayo Clinic.

Surrounded by fellow volunteers and staff, the celebration featured cupcakes, specialty cookies, and sparkling cider—fitting for such a remarkable occasion. More than the festivities, however, it was a moment to reflect on the lasting impact Olivia has made over three decades.

Since beginning her volunteer journey in 1996, Olivia has generously contributed thousands of hours in service to patients, families, and staff. She first supported Patient Financial Services before finding her home in the Patient Library, where she continues to serve today. In every role, Olivia has brought warmth, compassion, and a genuine joy for helping others.

Her 100 years of life experience, paired with her unwavering commitment to service, embody the very spirit of volunteerism. Olivia’s presence is not only appreciated—it is deeply felt. She reminds us all of the power of kindness, consistency, and human connection.

We are incredibly grateful for Olivia and the legacy she continues to build each day.
