Summertime Means Hot Weather and Student Volunteers

Summertime means hot weather and student volunteers for many hospitals.

At Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona, nearly 40 volunteers in high school and college attended a training day on June 3rd.  Students will volunteer one day per week through the months of June and July.  They will be volunteering in patient and non-patient care areas escorting patients, providing amenities (who doesn’t love a warm blanket when you’re not feeling well!) and restocking important medical supplies.  Students will also attend a Simulation Nursing Skills lab where they will learn to administer CPR, insert an I.V. and intubate a patient on mannequins.
