Project Blanket

Project Blanket:

A Heartwarming Holiday Tradition at Phoenix Children’s Each year, Volunteer Services at Phoenix Children’s invites our teenage volunteers to participate in Project Blanket, a special initiative designed to bring comfort and joy to our patients during the holidays. This ongoing, year-round effort encourages teens to make “No-Sew” fleece blankets-simple yet heartfelt gifts that provide warmth and a sense of care to those who need it most.
While there are limited opportunities for teens to volunteer directly within the hospital, Project Blanket provides a fun, creative way for them to give back. It’s a wonderful way for them to stay involved in the community, especially during the holiday season, when they may be looking for ways to make a meaningful impact.
To help the teens get started, I send out easy-to-follow instructions (yes, straight from Google!) that guide them step-by-step through the process. For every handmade blanket, teens receive three hours of service credit, which is a generous way to encourage participation and keep them engaged in their volunteer work. The best part? Each blanket, tied together with care, brings smiles to the faces of our young patients, making it a win-win for everyone involved.
